The Idea of America

by Sam Shore
BATS Theatre, 8-19 March 2011, 7pm, Tickets $20/$14

"Witty, sexy, entertaining: yes" - Theatreview

Jude, a failed actress battling dementia, thinks she's a lot more famous than she is. Between playing mother and battling illness, she escapes into a world of sequins, air-kisses and grand entrances. Her conservative daughter, Holly, returns home. Youngest Maureen, and secretive older brother Sean, greet her warily. As things turn from bad to worse the siblings unite in a common cause. Lies are exposed and wounds reopened.

The Idea of America showcased the universal story of how a family copes with the loss of a parent, interwoven with the world of a stage diva gone mad!
