Sports / Confirmed Sports

Sixteen sports have been unveiled for the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames, a week of sports competition, arts events and conferences being held in March 2011.

The 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames will feature an array of sports competitions to participate in and some carefully selected demonstration sports so you can try something new.  Come play with us!

There are minimum numbers required for each sport to go ahead. Each sport is also subject to final sign-off by GLISA AP. Registrations open in 2010, and the specific events within each sporting category are currently being finalised.

The best venues in Wellingtion have been booked for the sports. For swimming, for example, that is the Regional Aquatic Centre, and for tennis, the Renouf Centre. Both facilities have previously hosted international competitions.

Sports have been selected on the basis of their appeal in the community (swimming, running and ten pin bowling are popular at international GLBT competitions), but many also have strong spectator appeal - dancesport, tennis and diving in particular.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames in Wellington, 12-19 March 2011.
